Our Mission Statement
It is the goal of Jersey Girls In Soccer to provide a place for women of all ages to play the game of soccer in a fun and recreational setting, to meet new people, to get some exercise and to do it in a manner that is both kind and cordial to all other members of the league. Our mission is not to fundraise, create a competitive atmosphere, to cause harm or to undermine other players or leagues.
Background
Each Spring for the last four years, my Canadian friends have regaled me with play by play of their soccer exploits. I was frustrated not playing, and wildly envious. Their League (Sistas in Soccer) played two hours away and I entertained thoughts of commuting for Friday night games. Alas, logistics didn't work.
With the help of my friends, and the New Providence Soccer Club, I'm bringing a fun and successful idea here to New Jersey.
Women aged 21 and up, with a great team spirit, a desire to play, and a fabulous sense of humor, are encouraged to join. No soccer experience is necessary. Because women are very busy, the time commitment is small. Games are one hour long and refereed by a trained official. Practices are optional. If the concept catches on, Jersey Girls will be part of a large Sisterhood; united in Sport.
Jersey Girls In Soccer is not for anyone looking to play very competitive soccer, however it is for EVERYONE looking to play soccer, have a lot of fun, and meet new people.
